Nixon's first birthday party

This update is well over due and so was my quick visit home to see my whanau for Nixon's first birthday.

One year old already you say? Yes! What a year it has been. I witnessed my first birth (kept my eyes closed when my boys were born so I wouldn't puke on the midwives). I didn't puke on Nikki-Leigh or her midwives either! What a long labour it was too. I was, and still am, in awe of Nikki-Leigh and the way she coped with the struggles and dramas that she went through during that 36 or so hours that it took to bring our wee man into the world.
A few days old

Every time I see Nixon he changes. He has grown so fast over since that day he arrived into our world and changed our lives.
Last time I was over

Today Nixon had a lovely party put on by his mum and dad with lots of delicious food made by his tauanui. He had two granddads there and two great grandfathers, his tauanui, taui and, of course, his nana. All of his uncles celebrated the day with him along with a great aunty (sorry Cindy I know that sounds old.. even older that nana!) and two second cousins (both who have exams tomorrow - good luck Caitlin and Ryan). Many other babies and children came along with their parents and four dogs, a cat and two rabbits added to the ambiance and great atmosphere of his day.

A shiner for his first party. You should see the other guy (the mozzie lying unconscious on the floor!)

Blowing raspberries at Charlie

Thank you Helen, Kara and Nikki-Leigh. You have had an awful week with the loss of Shane so it was doubly appreciated that you hosted such a lovely day.

Hurry up December and get here so Movember can be over and my boys can look handsome again!
With Grandad

These four boys have been to many birthday parties at this house. No broken arms or mischief from them today though!

Charlie getting into the party spirit

Now that I am back in the land of the dry wind I want to go home. I can't wait till the holidays so that I can spend some quality time with my lovely family (and get into my once lovely gardens - don't suggest a gardener, no one is allowed to touch my gardens but me!!!).
