5.40 I went in and straightened Nixon up and put him under the covers. Little grizzles carried on for 20 minutes, but not distressed. That boy is right into moving around his bed. He turns round and round!
6.00 up and out to the dogs. That bloody Ben is driving me nuts. I want to install a toilet in his kennel. Grandad you owe me big time. A new pair of red stilettos with diamond encrusted heels could make us even. Back inside and into the school work while the house is quiet and peaceful. This was the view after I came inside from doing the dogs. Just lovely this morning.
8.35 and time to heat the milk and get the wee ray of sunshine out of his bed. Seriously this baby is just all smiles first thing. He manages that without coffee. He didn't get my morning genes.
Lots of snuggles this morning after Nixon consumed his bottle while twisting and turning like a wiggly little worm. We read Pete the Cat and Old MacDonald while Feral the fat cat just lay on the bed glaring at us if we disturbed her too much. I don't think she likes my singing. Nixon smiles politely. He is a good boy.
Grandad rang from England and had a good chat to Nixon. Nixon made a few sounds and Mick and I both swear he said Grandad. I kid you not. Could have been a fluke but man it sounded perfect. Made Grandad's day (or night as the case may have been in England). Mick is gutted he is missing out.
Feral is a bit unsure about the decor that takes up most of the bed each morning!
9.30ish Nixon back to bed and a bit more school work done.
10.45ish Demanding chatter from the bedroom. Translated it was "Nana, get me out of this bloody room!". After his bottle Nixon and I went out to move some dogs around. Very mild out there again today. 16.4 degrees at 11.15am. Nixon sat and talked to the clucky sister hounds, Skippy and Maggie. Was so funny when Nixon made loud noises Skippy barked at him. I thought he was going to cry but he just laughed and chatted and she just barked and wagged.
We wandered out to get the mail and found the box was almost off it's post. But no worries. Nixon and Nana builders were onto it. After four trips to the shed for a variety of tools and timber we had it sorted. I wonder if there is more money in building than teaching? I wonder if you can get steel cap stilettos? I wonder if you can actually screw a screw in without getting blisters?
I'm loving my new pram. You can put mail on the top, baby in the middle and use the bottom as a tool bag.
Back to move the dogs back to the kennel block and more babysitting for the old wanna be aunty dogs.
Inside at about 12.30 ish for Nixon's lunch. Nana's secret recipe vege mash. Nixon practiced the crawling position while he waited and moved himself backwards around the floor. What a good boy he has been hanging out in that pram all that time.
I got a bit more work done during the afternoon sleep even though it only lasted about 20 minutes! Another nap a wee bit later let me get the dogs fed, cleaned up and toileted. In between we had lots of cuddles and crawling practice. Still not past the bum up in the air part but I have faith! Won't be long.
The evening dash begins. Another big feed of the mean veges made by Nana. I had a chicken sandwich after Nixon went to bed. Would kill for a curry or vege stir fry. Grandad loses brownie points for the lack of freezer meals.
6.45pm After a play with Baxter and Charlie Nixon had his bottle and hit the hay. I think the fresh air wore him out completely. He was rubbing his eyes and snuggling in. I could have quite happily kept my wee moko on my knee all night but I know there is a bit of a chance that I might get a bit roudy during the Highlanders game. Gutted that I'm not going. Go the Highlanders!!! Go! Go! Go!
